Liberation is a process of acquiring freedom. Some examples of processes and states in nature, in the person (thoughts, feelings, deeds) and relations:

  • a bird hatches, breaks the limitations of the egg;
  • a butterfly comes out, breaks the limitations of the cocoon;
  • migrating animals overcome obstacles to find food and water;
  • we free ourselves from a bad habit which limits us;
  • we give freedom to another person to be her/himself;
  • we break free from obstacles on our way;
  • we break free from depressing thoughts and bad feelings.

“This movement destroys everything that was holding you back. This is the liberation from the old and the attainment of the new. It is the entering into freedom. We can also call it the destruction of all unnatural relations… This is an appeal for liberation, an appeal to leave the prisons. It says to us: “Leave the life of eternal sunset and enter into life of eternal sunrise. Drop the chains of death and enter into the freedom of life. Come out of the dark caves where love does not exist and enter into the joy of love”. [4, p.51]

1. Text: Explain in other words “dew drop”, “seven-stringed harp”, “attain oneness”, “higher plane”. Write in your own beautiful words a sentence/essay/poem about liberation.

2. Drawing: Draw a picture of a butterfly coming out of a cocoon. Draw two pictures of limitation and of freedom: with images or colours or shapes. Draw an illustration to the exercise.

3. Questions: What would you like to break free from (limitations, habits etc.)? When we go out in the nature what do we break free from?

4. Experience:Tell us of situations and experiences when you have overcome some limitation. What is the feeling?

5. Imagination: Imagine while you play the exercise that there is an invisible chain around you and that you break it with your hands. 

6. Affirmation:  Write your own positive affirmation for Liberation. For example: I break free from limitations. I am free to be my real self. 

7. Quote:  Don Quixote: Freedom, Sancho, is one of the most precious gifts that heaven has bestowed upon men; no treasures that the earth holds buried or the sea conceals can compare with it; for freedom, as for honour, life may and should be ventured (Miguel de Cervantes). Find your favourite quote.

The right foot has stepped, the left foot is set forward.




The right hand from a position on the hip moves in front of the chest, clenched in a fist. The left arm from a position horizontal to the side moves in front of the chest clenched in a fist. The fists touch with palms down, thumbs out below on top of the other fingers. The elbows are close to the body, the forearms are pointing forwards and upwards with stretched wrists.

The left foot steps.

The fists part as if they break something: the arms unfold in the elbows downwards, forwards and sideways while the palms open; next the arms raise stretched horizontally to the sides, palms down, fingers together.

The arms retrace their way to clench fists in front of the chest.

Movements 2 and 3 make up a cycle which repeats 20 times.

Final position:

Both arms are folded in the elbows and the close fisted hands are brought together in front of the chest, touching.

The weight is on the left foot, the right foot is forward, ready for the first step of exercise 8.
